Catholic civil aviation chaplaincy, also known as the Airport Apostolate, provides pastoral care to people in the aviation environment, including passengers, and airport and airline employees.
This ministry offers spiritual guidance, counseling, and religious services, reaching those who may not have access to regular parish life due to travel or shift work. These chaplains act as a Christian witness and support system in the unique “frontier” environment of an airport.
Personal guidance, prayer, presence.
Worship services and moments of community.
For passengers, crew, and airport staff.
Assistance in stressful or unexpected situations.
Confession, Communion, Anointing of the Sick on request.
A dedicated chapel or silent room for reflection.
Most major airports have a Catholic priest appointed by the diocesan bishop as Civil Aviation Chaplain.
In many airports where there is no priest as chaplain, the presence of a permanent deacon or pastoral agent responsible for the activities of the chaplaincy is guaranteed.
This website is intended as a resource to help anyone involved in civil aviation (passengers, flight crew and employees) to find out where, how and when to find a Catholic chaplain in the main European airports.
